Behold, the royal baby is finally here! Baby Sussex was born on May 6, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the happy news on their Instagram page. The post stated that both the mother, the Duchess of Sussex and her baby are ‘healthy and well’. Stepping away from the strict royal protocol, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, stepped out to announce the birth to media while looking absolutely giddy!

“I’m very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy earlier this morning. A very healthy boy,” Prince Harry told the press, standing in front of a stable in Windsor, where his new home, Frogmore Cottage, is located. He continued, “Mother and baby are doing incredibly well. It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever possibly imagine. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension.”

Almost everything about the birth of the royal baby boy was a departure from royal-birth traditions – from the location of the birth to the ‘over the moon’ address by Prince Harry, who was so elated that he even answered questions from the press. The Duke of Sussex has not been a fan of the paparazzi, and he’s known for resenting media intrusions since he and Meghan announced their engagement in 2017.
So, when the giddy prince announced the birth of his little prince, it was a break with traditional royal discretion for him to speak so emotionally on camera about becoming a father.

For all three of their children’s births, Will and Kate emerged from St. Mary’s within hours to face their well-wishers and media, and to pose briefly with the baby. But neither said anything, let alone gushed overwhelmingly like Harry. People have been wondering if this was spontaneous on Harry’s part or orchestrated in advance by his team?
However, Prince Harry looked positively elated and couldn’t stop smiling from ear-to-ear as he spoke about his son, “I haven’t been at many births; this was definitely my first birth but it’s amazing. Absolutely incredible. I’m so incredibly proud of my wife. As any father and parent would ever say your baby is absolutely amazing but this little thing is absolutely to die for, and I’m just over the moon.”
Royal baby names are typically not announced for at least a few days, because the queen has to be informed first. However, Prince Harry declared that the couple is still thinking about names: “The baby is a little bit overdue so we’ve had a little bit of time to think about it.” He then revealed that he and Meghan will be appearing before the press in about two days to give the world the first glimpse of the new prince.
This is not the way the Cambridge children were introduced to the world: First as infants bundled in blankets, and then not seen again for months until their christenings. The prince is just a day old and is already breaking rules!
Baby Boy Sussex is seventh in line to the throne and has also become The Queen’s eighth great-grandchild.
