It's been six months of social distancing for all of us and that fact in itself just blows my mind. Six months of sitting in our pyjamas, six months of working from home, six months of feeling like the world is coming to an end, and six months that were a blur. While this time has been tough for me, the one thing I had through it all was makeup. Yup, I put on a bold red lipstick during the day and it really lifted my mood. Every time I felt low, I would try and perfect an eyeshadow look that I had saved on Instagram and felt like I've really accomplished something! After all, makeup is an art and it's therapeutic for many.
If you are like me and makeup is your solace then you're in luck because we've got some trends that are everywhere this season. So, even if nobody is going to see you, you can practice these looks and wait for your return back into the world.
There's no amount of colour on your eyes that's too much or too little. This season it's all about playing with colours on your lids and this bold and beautiful look is the perfect example. Don't be afraid to play with contrasting colours on the top and bottom lashlines and coat your lashes well with mascara.
We're used to seeing matte and metallic eyeshadows but glossy eyeshadow is the latest eye trend that's making the beauty rounds. To recreate this look prep your eyelids as normal and add a natural shade to create the base, then add the pigment that you want. As a final step add a gloss to your lids- not a lip gloss because it's too sticky but one specially made for your eyes.
Tiny cute detailing near the eyes or on the cheeks are super in and look amazing as a trend. After you're done with your makeup just draw a star or a heart or any little doodle that speaks to you, it'll give your makeup a personalised touch and also add character.
The overliner look is being seen everywhere- from runways to photoshoots. If you want to hop on this trend just use a gel liner to line your lids as usual and extend it outwards. Then draw a line along the semicircle of the crease and join the two and voila, you're ready to take on the beauty world.
Let's be honest, we all could do with some (a lot of) highlighter in our lives ATM. Just use a liquid highlighter to give your skin a shiny look and don't just stop at the cheekbones- go all out. Put some on your decolletage, on your shoulders, and on the bridge of your nose. 'Coz you've gotta shine bright like the diamond you are!
So, ready to blend your worries away?
