Back in the day, Instagram was meant to be a photo-sharing platform while Twitter was used to share information and opinions. Cut to 2021, social networking sites have become a source of hatred, negativity and cyberbullying. Hiding behind the power of anonymity, trolls have zero accountability. And no one can escape them unscathed, especially celebs.
We’ve seen trolls spew hatred and give unsolicited advice to Bollywood celebs far too many times already. And over the years, celebs have also found a way to either ignore or educate them. This time, Bigg Boss 14’s Pavitra Punia took an opportunity to slam those who have been abusing her on Twitter, via a video message. Lashing out at them, the actress said that these people don’t know or care about what going on in someone’s life before hurling abuses at them. “Hum Twitter pe tumhari gaaliyaan sunne ke liye baithe hue hai? Is it so?,” questioned Pavitra.
Just a few months ago, the actress had slammed trolls who questioned her relationship with Eijaz Khan. The couple was targetted by the haters after they were spotted almost kissing each other during a press conference. In response, Pavitra took to Twitter to pen a note for them asking them to stop commenting on their relationship. She further added that the duo ‘purely love each other’ and do not require approval from them.
For the unversed, Pavitra and Eijaz bonded with each other during their stint on Bigg Boss 14. While they shared a love-hate relationship initially and even had screaming matches, it was only after Pavitra’s eviction that Eijaz opened up about his feelings for her. Soon after Eijaz confessed his feelings for the actress, the couple reunited during the family week episode where they confessed their love for each other. The couple made their relationship official after Eijaz’s eviction from the show owing to his professional commitments.
In fact, Pavitra and Eijaz also spoke about their wedding plans. In an interview with a leading daily, the actor had said that if things go well they will get married this year itself. Pavitra, on the other hand, had said, “Things will happen very soon. We can’t predict our future, but we can be hopeful and wishful about the future.”
TBH, we’re proud of Pavitra for standing up for herself. And we have a little something to say to the trolls. Before you click send on that awful message or post that nasty comment, take a moment to think about the impact it can have on someone’s mental health. The world does not need this kind of negativity.
