Wasn’t Because Of Me: Parth Samthaan On The Real Reason Kasautii Zindagi Kay Went Off Air

Parth Samthaan is the undisputed king of Indian TV and also our hearts. Recently, he got us swooning as he posted pictures of himself dressed up like a groom. Now before your heart shatters into a million pieces, it was a BTS from a shoot. But of course, that didn’t stop us from fantasising about getting hitched to the heartthrob!

While we miss Parth, we also miss the iconic show he starred in, Kasautii Zindagi Kay. In fact, the actor recently cleared the air about the real reason why the show got cancelled. He was addressing rumours that stated the show went off the air because Ekta Kapoor could not find a suitable replacement for him.

Speaking to a media outlet, he said that COVID-19 was a big contributing factor. “Covid was at its peak. I was also diagnosed with Covid. So, it was an unfortunate situation for me. At that time, haalaat safe nahi the, actors ko shoot karna ya directors ko face karna ya media ko face karna (it was not safe for actors to shoot or face directors or the media),” he said.

He further insisted that the decision to call off the show was an overall one. “It was not because I wanted to leave the show or because Erica (Fernandes, his co-star) wanted to leave the show. It was an overall decision where the channel also felt that it is better to put an off to it. Yes, I was sad, because I always wanted Kasautii to run forever, for the longest amount of time. I actually apologised to Ekta ma’am also and she was kind enough to understand that,” he added.

Parth’s new project, a web series called Main Hero Boll Raha Hoon, was recently released on AltBalaji and Zee5 Premium. The actor portrays the role of a gangster, and thanked Ekta Kapoor for offering him the role. He recently opened up about how he had to take up smoking in order to do justice to his character. “I understood why people get addicted to it. Thanks to my friends, I have finally managed to kick smoking,” said Parth.

Parth is also set to make his big Bollywood debut opposite none other than Alia Bhatt in Resul Pookutty’s Piharwa. The film is based on a martyr during the India-China war and is set in two eras. Parth will romance Alia in the film, giving us a chance to see this new on-screen jodi’s chemistry! The filming for Piharwa was scheduled to begin in December but was pushed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Resul is apparently in touch with Alia in order to lock the dates.

We might still be recovering from Kasautii Zindagi Kay being called off the air, but at least we get to see more of Parth on screen again!
