Actor Nawab Shah, who was last seen in Tiger Zinda Hai, has been a part of the industry for two decades. The actor recently tied the knot with girlfriend Pooja Batra in a secret wedding ceremony in New Delhi. Pooja Batra, a model and actress, rose to fame after being crowned Femina Miss India 1993 and was later recognised for her role in Virasat, opposite Anil Kapoor and Tabu. On June 5th, the two revealed their relationship on Instagram and now, a month later, the two are officially married! In a recent interview with a digital publication, the actor revealed how he proposed to Pooja after just four months of them dating, in front of his family in an unexpected set-up!
“I proposed to her in front of my family. It wasn’t planned at all and it just happened. It was overwhelming for the two of us. When you know he or she is the right person, you are excited and motivated to live life. I keep telling her that we have less time as we have to grow together and also have babies. We need to travel, we both love reading and writing, and as we say, ‘Zindagi chotti hai’ so why not do things that we like?” said Nawab.
He also went on to reveal that them meeting after 20 years and reconnecting feels magical, “It happened quite magically in our case because she was sitting in Los Angeles like ‘Saat Samundar Paar’. We knew each other 20 years ago and then we reconnected and somewhere, we felt that it’s the best thing that has happened. I met her obviously and we reconnected when she was coming back from LA. We met at the airport and that was the first time we met and that’s how we started to spend more time together and here we are now.”
The actors recently posted pictures from their two weddings, an Arya Samaj wedding and a Nikaah and they looked amazing during both the ceremonies! While talking to a leading daily about the wedding ceremony, Pooja said, “Nawab and I exchanged vows in Delhi, with only our families in attendance. Our loved ones kept asking us why we were delaying it (the marriage). I was simply going with the flow, but then I realised that he is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with, and there is no point in delaying it any further. So, here we are. We had an Arya Samaj wedding, and we will register our marriage this week.”
