#GirlPower: Mary Kom Assures A Silver & Shreyasi Singh Wins Another Gold For India At CWG 2018!

Forging towards a gold medal, India’s boxing superstar and the born fighter MC Mary Kom has defeated Sri Lanka’s Abusha Dilruksh and has entered the final of the women’s 48-kg category at Commonwealth Games 2018, today. 

Mary Kom did not just win the game on the edge, she rather registered a 5:0 win against the veteran Sri Lankan fighter. The 39-year-old fighter Anusha played well against the five-time world champion but fell short in the end. Both boxers played cautiously in the first round, but Mary managed to land several punches.

As the Sri Lankan fighter had the advantage of height and reach, Mary used a low guard, feet movement and her reflexes to win the deal. Both boxers matched their scores in the second round but Mary picked up the tempo from there and took points to her side with a blast of punches.

Can’t wait to see the five-time world champion and Olympic bronze-medallist to lead another championship in her CWG debut! 

Later in the day, Shreyasi Singh, India’s ace shooter has won a gold medal in Women’s Double Trap. this is India’s 3rd gold medal in shooting. Earlier, Shreyasi Singh had tied with 96 points with Australia’s Emma Cox. The two proceeded to determine who takes the gold and silver. And it’s a proud moment for India as Shreyasi Singh has won another gold for the country!
