The rise of the Indian fashion couple is certainly a recent phenomenon and its inception can easily be signposted in the 2000s. The decade was reigned by a very fashion-forward Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan dressed to the nines in their Italian suits and French couture gowns. Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan followed next with their royal badhgalas and flamboyant Manish Malhotra outfits respectively. A couple of years later, Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput along with Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh were all set to share the limelight with the already established fashion couples.
When it comes to the rise of fashion couples in the Hindi film industry, while we might have been a little late to the party, we have surely arrived with a bang (and in style). It’s like every year, we add a new fashion couple to the list. In fact, we just made a brand new addition–Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor. From their Valentine date night to their workout outings, the two have given us some really interesting fashion moments in the past couple of months or so. Just yesterday they were seen leaving for a family lunch in complimenting outfits and we are mighty impressed. Here’s everything that we are loving about their looks:
Hey, Sunshine! Malaika’s Breezy Summer Outfit
The ever so stylish Malaika Arora made it to the family Easter lunch dressed in a weather-appropriate strappy, summer dress. The yellow Johanna Ortiz dress featured a wrap-around detail, plunging neckline, and ruffled asymmetrical hem as its key details. The waist accentuating, DIY-fit style of Malaika’s dress is surely something to take inspiration from considering that the tie-around silhouette is very much in vogue right now. Also, it might sound like we are kidding here but seriously what’s better than an adjustable waist when your plans include devouring a hearty Easter meal? That said, this is an ultra-versatile style that can be easily dressed up or down simply with a change of shoes.
Well, everyone can use a strappy summer dress right now and here are our picks:
Malaika finished the look with a gold, coiled watch and matching gold stilettos. We love how Malaika has amped up the otherwise breezy outfit with her accessories and has made it dressier with the gold accents. Also, there is no missing out on that chunky initial pendant. This one really knows how to keep it fun and chic with her outfits!
Also, can we all please take a moment and admire Malaika’s gloriously luminescent base?
Arjun’s Cool Casuals
Posing for the paps with bae Malaika, Arjun Kapoor surely looked like he had dressed to compliment her and no, we aren’t complaining. The actor opted for a chocolate brown SSENSE T-shirt and black semi-formal trousers for the Easter lunch.
His trousers featured a ruched detailing at the hem and a sense of continuity was added to the look with matching black suede shoes. We admire the overall cool but collected vibe of his look. If we might, we’d call it ‘calculated chill’ and highly recommend it for your boo this summer.
Our favourite part about Arjun’s look is obviously how well the brown T-shirt compliments Malaika’s mango yellow dress. The idea after all is not just to look good individually but to look good together, as a couple. Needless to say, Arjun and Malaika have aced that part. We’d surely be looking forward to their future looks!
