Coronavirus, lockdown, and a postponed Friend’s reunion…no one told us life was gonna be this way, right? Also, this has definitely not been our year or anyone’s year for that matter! However, even after 16 years since the show ended, we can somehow still count on the TV show Friends to be there for us. And while the indefinitely postponed reunion might be a matter of disappointment for the fans, stars Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow aka Phobe and Rachel recently connected over a video conference for a media platform, to fill the Friends-shaped hole in our hearts and help us with some behind the scene tea.
The two started the chat with their usual shenanigans after being asked if Lisa can hear Jennifer, she promptly replied, ‘Oh, I can hear you and I can smell you.’ During the chat, Jennifer also revealed that while some of the episodes might be a little hazy in her head, she still remembers what each one of them was wearing when all of them met for the first time.
“You were wearing an appropriate Phoebe Buffay — like white linen, hippie shirt, and you had a bunch of seashells and necklaces on. And you had your hair pulled up in two little clips, and you had these little blond tendrils,” she shared leaving Lisa visibly impressed.
However, it was Friends’ bloopers that became the highlight of Jennifer and Lisa’s chat as the former shared how she actually learnt that something like that exists only by accident. “This one time I was with Courteney, and we were trying to find something to reference, an old ‘Friends’ thing. And then we stumbled on — there’s bloopers online — and we sat there at the computer like two nerds watching these bloopers laughing at ourselves,” she shared.
Throughout the chat, the two kept going back to good old days and how they’d often break into peals of laughter right in the middle of a scene. As Jennifer said, “You and I would always get into these fits of laughter because you had this wonderful ability to — you were about to hit your punchline, and you would do this adorable thing where you would break. You would say the punchline, and you would always turn to the audience and say, ‘I’m sorry, it’s really funny’.”
But wait, can you believe that one of the Friends’ stars has never really seen all of the episodes? Well, that’s Lisa for you! The actress shared that, she “didn’t want to ruin it” by doing so and further added “I don’t watch the show. I’m still not watching it in the hopes that one day we sit down and watch them together.”
During the chat, the two also discussed the much-anticipated reunion as Lisa said “I can’t wait to do that. I really can’t wait to do that. Yeah, we don’t know everything about it, we need to say. I think we’re meant to be surprised by some things as well.”
The exciting thing about this reunion is that even the stars aren’t aware of what it is going to be all about and they are all set to be as surprised as the audience. The only thing that the two seemed certain about was the fact that it is not scripted and they would certainly not be making an appearance as Phoebe and Rachel. “I will not be Rachel, although I kind of am. Well, we’re all sort of little fragments of them. Not really. But yeah,” Jennifer said.
The Friends’ stars are all set to shoot for the reunion as soon as the quarantine ends and situations get favourable for shoots. Well, raise your hands if you can’t contain your excitement as well!
