Kensington Palace tweeted the great news sometime back and the town went ecstatic!
Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs.
The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz.
The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.
Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.
This is the third child for Kate and William, after 4-year-old Prince George and 3-year-old Princess Charlotte, and everyone is extremely happy to see the royal family growing. To add to the joy, it's Kate and William's seventh anniversary this month on 29th of April.
Kensignton Palace also said in a statement, "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."
Traditionally, the birth of the newborn will be posted on an easel outside the Buckingham Palace once Queen Elizabeth and family are officially informed. Post that, bells will toll and with a traditional gun salute the new child will be welcomed to the royal family.
After Prince George and Princess Charlotte, we can't wait to see what the royal couple will name their neborn. However, above all, we wish them all the very best!
