Actor Kartik Aaryan has come a long way since his 2011 debut with Pyaar Ka Punchnama. He has gained popularity for his boy-next-door, quirky roles and hilarious monologues in his movies. His latest success of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety got him the ultimate box-office breakthrough. However, earning appreciation and love from everyone was clearly not a piece of cake. On the latest episode of Koffee With Karan, Kartik shared his struggles of being an actor and what helped him reach this pedestal.
Gracing the couch with nostalgia, the 28-year-old actor shared that social media had been of major help to him in his career. Since he didn’t know anyone from the industry, he had used Facebook and Google to search for auditions. “I used to type keywords like actors required and casting calls on Facebook and Google and then go from New Bombay to Bombay to stay close with the industry,” he added.
Kartik further admitted that despite getting into the University of Bombay, he was forced to leave it after he started facing attendance issues due to auditions. Nevertheless, he completed his degree in engineering after his first break in Bollywood because his parents wanted him to be a padha-likha (well-educated) actor.
Earlier in January, the actor had shared an old picture on his Instagram profile that got him his first audition. His caption read, “When the hair wasn’t up. The photo that got me my debut film’s audition. #MainePyaarKiyaLook to #PyarKaPunchnama.” Doesn’t he look cute?
Reminiscing the old days, Kartik revealed that there was a time when he had to share his two-bedroom apartment with 12 other struggling actors. “We were like a happy family. We used to pile up on each other,” he said, laughingly without a single flicker of regret.
On the work front, he is currently busy with the shooting of his upcoming film Pati, Patni Aur Woh with Ananya Pandey and Bhumi Pednekar. The actor recently took to Instagram to unveil his first look from the movie. It went viral in only a few hours and garnered an amazing response from all his fans who were left awestruck with his transformation. His latest film Luka Chuppi co-starring Kriti Sanon is set to release on 1st March.
