After Love Aaj Kal 2, Kartik Aaryan Bags The Lead Role In The Sequel Of Bhool Bhulaiyaa

Kartik Aaryan has become the film industry’s favourite. The actor just wrapped up the shoot for Imtiaz Ali‘s Love Aaj Kal sequel opposite Sara Ali Khan and is currently working on Bhushan’s remake of BR Chopra’s Pati Patni Aur Woh. He has also recently been signed for Karan Johar‘s Dostana 2 with Janhvi Kapoor. Damn! With all those big labels under his belt, Kartik sure is on a roll.

Recently, an anonymous source revealed that Kartik Aaryan has also been roped in for the sequel of Bhool Bhulaiyaa. With this movie in his kitty, the Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety actor is on the path to become the king of remakes and sequels in Bollywood.

“The idea has been locked but the script is yet to be finalised. Kartik Aaryan loved the idea and has decided to come on board. Once the director is locked, the leading lady and the rest of the cast will be decided,” the undisclosed source told a leading daily.

Earlier, there were rumours that Vicky Kaushal, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao have been shortlisted for the lead role. The makers did more follow-ups and screen tests to zero in on the actor to headline the cast, and finally decided that Kartik Aaryan was the best fit for the role.

Released in 2007, Bhool Bhulaiyaa was a horror comedy, starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan in lead roles. It was directed by Priyadarshan, and also featured Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Shiney Ahuja and Ameesha Patel in supporting roles. Bhool Bhulaiyaa itself was an official remake of Rajinikanth’s 2005 film Chandramukhi. Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja play a couple who decides to stay in their ancestral home despite being warned of ghosts on the premises. Supernatural occurrences force Shiney to call for the help of his friend, a psychiatrist, played by Akshay.

Not only was the movie a huge commercial success, but it was also universally acclaimed by critics. Vidya Balan's performance as a woman possessed by a ghost is regarded as one of her best till date.

Let’s see if the movie can work its charm the second time around and creep the bejesus out of the viewers. We’re also super psyched about Kartik Aaryan stepping into Akshay Kumar’s shoes. Will he be able to do justice to the iconic role? We’ll have to wait and watch!
