Kareena Kapoor Khan realised she was pregnant with Taimur after the shooting of Veere Di Wedding had begun. The actress was expecting her first baby with husband Saif Ali Khan. Her director, Shashanka Ghosh, and producer, Rhea Kapoor actually wanted her pregnancy to be a part of the film! Kareena said to a leading newspaper that Rhea and Shashanka "planned to show Kareena's character six months pregnant" but the reason why they had to write out the pregnancy will leave you stunned.
"There was no safeguard against suffering a mishap. So we scrapped the idea of shooting during pregnancy. India has a long way to go in accounting for every facet of a woman's life and challenges on the professional front," said Kareena. Can you imagine a country which does not offer 'maternity insurance' for actress in the industry?
Kareena shares screen space with Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker, and Shikha Talsania in Veere Di Wedding, a film about four friends and their different journeys through love and marriage.
But despite her pregnancy, Kareena states that Rhea was particular about the cast she had chosen. "Rhea wanted me onboard, even if it meant delaying the film by another year. No one ever put any pressure on me. I knew I would take time to resume because I had to be with Taimur. I returned to the set in Delhi over six months after delivery. This team supported a new mother so well. If I had a night shoot, they didn't call me for the next 12 hours so that I could be with my son. And in case of a morning schedule, they'd let me off early."
Aww, they truly are the best girl gang!
