Back in 2019, Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor's pictures from their Maldives vacay got the rumour mill buzzing with speculations about their wedding. Several tabloids suggested that the couple had secretly tied the knot in an intimate wedding.
Fast forward to April 2020, when asked about his shaadi plans, Arjun said, "I will tell all of you all when I am getting married."
And now, a year later, the actor has us wondering if the secret shaadi rumours were actually true. Taking to Instagram, Arjun shared a picture of himself with a mangalsutra that got us wondering about his wedding.
But a closer look revealed the real story and as it turns out, it has a Kareena Kapoor connection! Remember Bebo and Arjun's film Ki and Ka from 2016? Well, this mangalsutra is a piece of memorabilia from the film.
In the post, Arjun revealed that it has been five years since the film was released. Celebrating the anniversary of their unconventional romantic drama, the actor shared that this film is personal to him as he signed it to pay a tribute to his mother, late Mona Shourie Kapoor. He also expressed his desire for a sequel of the film.
"A piece of memorabilia from ki & ka !!! Missing the set and missing the on-screen Ki... this film was personal as I chose it for my mom and it’s now even more personal after working with Bebo and Balki sir... I think we need a sequel. What say @kareenakapoorkhan? #5YearsOfKiandKa," read the caption.
On the other hand, Kareena shared a behind the scenes picture from the sets of Ki and Ka with Arjun Kapoor and director R Balki. Bebo also revealed that Taimur Ali Khan was conceived after Ki and Ka. But that's not all, Kareena also expressed interest in the sequel of the film.
"A film I thoroughly enjoyed, a film quite bold, a film after which Tim was conceived, a film that must be made into a sequel... only cause I want to work with @arjunkapoor and Balki once again... Arjun don’t worry, I will continue to say chappal laooooo #5YearsOfKiAndKa," read Kareena's caption.
Ki and Ka followed the story of a married couple who contradicted the gender roles defined by Indian society. In the film, Arjun played the role of a stay-at-home husband while Kareena portrayed a working professional. Apart from being a box office success, Ki and Ka triggered a conversation about gender stereotypes in society.
So, when do we get a sequel guys?
