The past year really did teach us a thing or two about intimate weddings. Yes, we might have started with cursing 2020 and the thought of curtailing the guest list and overall festivities. However, as it turns out intimate weddings aren’t that bad after all, and a lot of wedding experts and planners in fact predicting that they are here to stay (even after the pandemic is done and dusted).
Now while a lot of celebs might have gone for big fat weddings in the past year while throwing care to reckless abandon, there are still some who continue to opt for small weddings. Case in point: screenwriters Kanika Dhillon and Himanshu Sharma who have tied the knot following a hush-hush December engagement. Kanika took to Instagram yesterday to share the news along with pictures from the wedding and wrote in one of her captions, “Here is to #2021. #newbeginnings #himanshusharma.”
Also, the two screenwriters being screenwriters really did turn the past year into a teaser as they went on first announcing their relationship and then engagement to the world on Instagram. Guess taking the world by surprise is their modus operandi here. And it’s not like we mind. Honestly, saves us a lot of anticipation! That said, Kanika has really been impressing us with her minimal albeit statement style and we need to discuss the couple’s wedding looks stat. Here we go.
The Minimal, Gulabi Bride
For their, court marriage, Kanika opted for a fuchsia anarkali embellished with marodi work. A bit of an unconventional wedding wear choice for an Indian bride, the attire still managed to look every bit festive, all thanks to its gorgeous hue and the waist-cinching that gave the silhouette a lehenga like appeal. The Manmarziyan writer finished her look with a pearl ranihaar and show-stealing chandbalis. Also, we might be crushing a tad too hard over her solid glass bangles, a styling constant that also featured in her engagement look.
And while Himanshu might have kept it as minimal as possible with his basic kurta and bandhgala jacket pairing, he still managed to complement Kanika by adding a touch of mustard to the layers.
Hair & Makeup
Again playing safe with her hairdo, Kanika opted for her trademark soft curls cascading down her shoulders to finish the look.
