Kalank Nahi, Risk Hai: Trailer Shows There’s More To The Film Than Drama, Dance & 6 Main Leads

The storyline of Karan Johar’s upcoming film Kalank looks quite straightforward. Let me see – Sonakshi Sinha loves Aditya Roy Kapur, Aditya Roy Kapur marries Alia Bhatt, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan are in love, Madhuri is basically doing Devdas 2, and Sanjay Dutt is the father everyone is scared of. If this isn’t straightforward, nothing in Bollywood is.

After a rather interesting teaser, the movie’s official trailer just came out only to remind us that it’s a Karan Johar production – if we were thinking the movie is about love and its perils, we could not be more wrong. Other than a killer cast with six of Bollywood’s best actors as main leads, Sanjay Leela Bhansali-feels in a KJo banner, Manish Malhotra’s stunning costumes and, of course, a whole lotta dance, there’s is so much more to the film than we thought.

If you haven’t watched the trailer yet, here you go:

The trailer begins with what I initially thought to be the Game of Throne‘s theme song – sad violin, slow music…reeking of tragedy. Everything went by like a swing until I spotted:

– Kunal Kemmu, yes, a seventh actor who looks like the villain in the film.

– Soon, Kriti Sanon made an appearance too – that’s an eight. Look at Aditya and Varun dancing together with Kriti.

– Not to forgot, Kiara Advani who isn’t in the film only for the song First Class – a ninth. She probably works with Madhuri.

Is it a film or is it a house party? Who can tell!

There is also a scene where Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt recreate the famous train scene from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, only the roles have been switched. Oh look, Aditya is also there holding Alia’s hand from inside the train. Well, that changes everything!

Given that the film is a period drama based in the 1920s, you can expect to see some of the historic political moments too. Tell us what you think about Kalank‘s trailer. Ishq hai ya risk hai?
