K3G's Poo Was Inspired By K2H2's Miss Braganza: Karan Johar | POPxo

Poo's Role In K3G Was Inspired By This Iconic Character From Kuch Kuch Hota Hai!

Poo bani Parvati Miss Braganza!

Miss Braganza and Poo are two of Karan Johar's most iconic characters from his films Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001). Miss Braganza, played by Archana Puran Singh, was an English professor at St. Xavier's College. She spoke with a flowery accent, looked like a diva in her skirt-suits and had an uber chic aura. Sounds like I am describing Poo, doesn't it? Played by Kareena Kapoor Khan, Poo was the most popular student at King's College, London.

But did you know that Miss Braganza and Poo are basically the same people in different time zones? No, no, we're not talking about a time heist like in Avengers: Endgame (silent sob). It was Miss Braganza who inspired Poo three years later in K3G!

In yesterday's episode of The Kapil Sharma Show, Karan Johar and his favourite muse Kajol graced the couch. Now having replaced Navjot Singh Sidhu, Archana Puran Singh has been sitting on 'the big chair'. And with the three of them together under one roof after two decades, things got K2H2-fied. KJo revealed that he used Miss Braganza's character as an inspiration to create Poo. He said:

"Wohi jo kirdar maine fir se waapas Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham mein fir se daal diya as Poo. Toh actually dekhiye Poo ka inspiration Miss Briganza hi thi. Aur jis tarah unhonein nibhaya tha, she was bang on."

(The same character [of Miss Braganza] I reused in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham as Poo. So, in actuality, Poo's inspiration was Miss Braganza. And the way she [Archana Puran Singh] portrayed it, she was bang on.)

Well, ain't KJo the King of originality!

In fact, when Kapil asked Archana about her experience on the set of the film, she said that in her career, the "sweetest" and the "bestest" memory she had was with Kajol and Karan during Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. She also called the shooting process the "greatest" and "the most beautiful journey" so far.
