The Mumbai Academy of Moving Image Festival 2019, aka MAMI puts together an annual festival for movie buffs every year. This year marks the 21st edition of MAMI and it's scheduled to start on October 17. Bollywood actress, Deepika Padukone is the chairperson of the trust this year while a few of the other trustees are bigwigs like Karan Johar, Jaya Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar, Yash Chopra, Ashutosh Gowarikar and Amol Palekar. MAMI brings together some iconic local and international films that will be screening in Mumbai, here's the schedule if you want to book yourself some tickets.
Meanwhile, some of our favourite celebrities were walking on the red carpet to extend their support to the fest. While a few rocked their red carpet looks, others failed to impress us. Here's a list of the best and worst dressed celebs at MAMI 2019.
Deepika slayed the vintage-retro glam inspired look! She paired a black and blue polka-dotted gown with her favourite makeup look -- winged liner and nude brown lips! This is a classic example of retro done right.
I don't know about you but I'm a fan of Kareena Kapoor's power-suit. Her jumpsuit had a sinched waist and flared bottoms. She paired it with a gorgeous layered chain and some plain black pumps. What caught our eye was Bebo's short, sleek hair. She seems to have gotten a new hairdo that complements her razor-sharp jaw, don't you think? Her makeup was again, classic Kareena - smudged liner, lots of bronzer & mascara and that statement nude-lipped pout.
It isn't very often that Alia trades in her feminine, girly charm for an outfit that's fierce and edgy. She wore this gorgeous ruffled leather crop top with high-waisted bejewelled pants and we totally approve. Her makeup and hair were subtle and understated, allowing her outfit to do all the talking!
Among the men, K-jo and his OTT jacket caught our eye. This time around, Karan wore a black jacket with a little bit of quirky text graffiti. A welcome change from his bright and bold neon tracksuits we'd say!
Ananya wore a beige blazer dress, with some cutwork on the sleeves and paired it with some nude heels. We weren't a fan of her outfit and felt it made her look a little drab. Her makeup, though, was on point. That fresh-faced dewy glow, coral monotoned makeup (her blush, lips and eyes were subtle shades of coral) made up for the lack of colour in her OOTD.
Janhvi Kapoor in our opinion was one of the worst dressed celebrities at MAMI this year. Her outfit didn't pair well together and makeup, too, was a miss. She wore a white, pussy-bow shirt with a shiny silver skirt and white stiletto pumps.
