The nightmare that is 2020 is only halfway done. While it started with the global lockdown due to coronavirus; earthquakes, wildfires and the news of a new tick-borne virus in China followed. Let alone the natural calamities, even man-made disasters like the devastating Beirut explosion have also made their way to crush mankind.
After witnessing the heartbreaking scenes of the rain-battered Mumbai on Twitter, the internet is now horrified with the heart-stopping videos of a massive sandstorm engulfing the city of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. Reportedly, the strong, humongous sandstorms started on the evening of August 5, affecting the neighbouring cities like Balotra and Barmer too.
There was zero visibility in the affected areas and the skies as far as 300 km were covered by suspended dust, making it difficult for the locals to see anything even a few feet away.
The sandstorm first hit the villages of Poonam Nagar, Nehadai and Mohangarh - and later moved towards the city’s famous Sonar Quila, also known as the Golden Fort.
Twitter users are sharing the pictures and videos of the sandstorm and it looked nothing less than a scene straight out of an apocalyptic Hollywood movie.
Take a look!

We know what you’re thinking. Could 2020 BE any worse!?
Even though it was a terrifying experience for the locals, things didn’t turn out to be disastrous. They were soon relieved with the light drizzle that followed the sandstorm. Also, there are no reports of any casualties yet. So, all’s well that ends well, right? We hope that the people of Jaisalmer are safe.
