Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao's Ishq Vishk was a romantic comedy that hit the screens in 2003. Being a debut for both Amrita and Shahid, the movie was a major hit back in its time. According to the grapevine, the film is all set to get a sequel. A few months ago, producer Ramesh Taurani confirmed the news, stating that the narrative was at the scripting stage and would focus on teenage romance this time.
"Yes, we are making a sequel to Ishq Vishk. The story is in the scripting stage and could be about a teenage romance. Hopefully, in the next two-three months, we will lock the script and start looking for the director and cast," Ramesh shared with a leading newspaper.
The news has obviously got all the Shahid fans super psyched about the sequel. In 2003, this movie saw the debut of Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao in roles that gave them their big break in the industry. Everyone wants to know who'd carry forward the legacy of Shahid's charms in the second movie. Well, good news for the fans! As per a leading daily, Shahid Kapoor's younger brother Ishaan Khatter is being considered to play the lead role in the sequel.
No official statement has yet been released by the filmmakers and the discussions are at a very preliminary stage. According to an undisclosed source, "The makers are currently working on the script for the movie. Ishq Vishk was very young in nature, and hence, who better than Ishaan Khatter, who exhibits the required charm and innocence for the role. Apparently, the idea has been discussed with Ishaan but that's it."
Ishaan Khatter made his Bollywood debut with with Dhadak opposite actress Janhvi Kapoor. He also received critical acclaim for his impressive performance in Majid Majidi's Beyond The Clouds.
In an earlier interview, reminiscing about some of the most memorable moments shared with his brother Shahid, Ishaan said, "I remember visiting him on the sets of various films, the first being Ishq Vishk. I became friends with the director’s son and would land up on my brother’s set uninvited. It was great fun, and a great learning experience."
Well, we don't want to jump the gun here, but how amazing it would be to see the cool Ishaan Khatter step into his brother shoe's and play the same role with a modern (and hopefully less misogynistic) twist?!
