Irrfan Khan On Battle With Cancer: My Days Are Unpredictable & I Don’t Make Plans

Irrfan Khan, one of the most versatile actors in the industry, has seen tremendous success in Bollywood and Hollywood. He’s known to take up difficult roles and unconventional movies like Hindi Medium and The Lunchbox and he has delivered some masterstrokes with his powerful acting. He has also made his mark in Hollywood with films like Life of Pi and Jurassic World.

However, the past few months have been difficult for the talented actor. The actor was diagnosed with NeuroEndocrine Tumour (a rare form of cancer) earlier this year and he shared the news with his fans with a heartfelt post on Twitter.

Since then, Irrfan has put everything on hold and has been undergoing treatment in London. The actor’s much-awaited movie Karwaan releases tomorrow and an American movie Puzzle is also coming out soon.

Recently, the actor talked to AP about his upcoming movie and his battle with cancer, and told them he is taking life as it comes. Irrfan said, “I’ve seen life from a completely different angle. You sit down and you see the other side and that’s fascinating. I’m engaged on a journey.”

He spoke more deeply about his days, saying, “There are challenges which life throws at you. But I have started believing in the way this condition has tested me, really, really tested me in all aspects – physical, emotional and spiritual. It has put me in a rapture state. Initially, I was shaken. I didn’t know. I was very, very vulnerable. But slowly, there is another way to look at things that are much more powerful and much more productive and much more healthy and I just want people to believe that nature is much more trustworthy and one must trust that.”

Irrfan has stopped reading scripts and he spends his days as they come. He told the news service that he doesn’t plan his days. “I’m just spontaneous. And I’m loving this experience.”

He has had four cycles of chemo and there are six more to go. “There is no guarantee of life with anybody. My mind could always tell me to hang a kind of chip on your neck and say, “I have this disease and I could die in a few months or a year or two.” Or I could just avoid this conversation completely and live my life the way it offers me.”

We are so amazed by Irrfan’s strength through his journey and we’re sending him all our love and prayers!
