A Sequel To How I Met Your Mother Is In The Works & We Hope It’s As Legendary As The OG!

A Sequel To How I Met Your Mother Is In The Works & We Hope It’s As Legendary As The OG!

Seven years ago, a wonderful show about a group of inseparable friends came to an end and left its fans heartbroken. The show gave us some ‘legendary’ characters, epic one-liners and even more unrealistic expectations about love. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that we’re talking about the fan-favourite, How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM).

Personally, I find the show comforting, and re-watch it every time I feel stressed and overwhelmed. Watching HIMYM is like reuniting with a group of really old friends and realising that nothing has changed between us. And I’m sure a lot of you would echo my sentiments! So call your friends and host a MacLaren’s Pub-themed happy hour, because we’re about to drop an epic bomb on you. A sequel to the show, called How I Met Your Father, is in the works! The best part? It will star our teenage idol, Hilary Duff, from Disney’s Lizzie McGuire! *cue high-pitched squealing*

Word is that Duff will portray the role of Sophie, the lead character, who sometime in the “near future,” is “telling her son the story of how she met his father.” The show is being produced will air on American TV network Hulu, and will take place in 2021.

“The story will catapult us back to the year 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options,” said the network officials.

At the moment, there is no information about whether any of the previous characters will appear in the new spinoff, or when production will begin. Duff, who is also one of the producers of the show, said, “I’ve been incredibly lucky in my career to play some wonderful characters and I’m looking forward to taking on the role of Sophie,” Duff said. “As a huge fan of ‘How I Met Your Mother,’ I’m honoured and even a little nervous that Carter and Craig would trust me with the sequel of their baby.” She was last seen in Younger, a show about a 40-something New York mom pretending to be in her twenties in an attempt to revive her career.

The officials from Hulu further stated, “The 10-episode comedy will star Hilary Duff (‘Younger’) as Sophie, with Duff also serving as a producer. The sequel will use a multi- and single-camera approach similar to its predecessor.”

Well, we don’t know about you, but we’re ready to suit up again! Fingers crossed that this show is as good as the OG!
