Vagina-Scented Candles Are Passé: Gwyneth Paltrow’s New Launch Smells Like Her Orgasm

Vagina-Scented Candles Are Passé: Gwyneth Paltrow’s New Launch Smells Like Her Orgasm

As someone who’s obsessed with aromatherapy, candles are my jam. I’ve hoarded so many scented candles over the years that you’ll find them in odd corners of my house–the kitchen, the washroom, the study…you name it! But when Gwyneth Paltrow‘s lifestyle company Goop launched a candle called ‘This Smells Like My Vagina’ earlier this year, that’s when I drew the line.

Maybe some people would spend $75 USD (₹ 5,700 approx.) on a candle that smells like Gwyneth’s vagina (okay, a lot of people did actually), but I’m not that adventurous with my scents. And while we’re still coping with her last launch, she’s back again with a new scent. This time, in the form of a candle that smells like her orgasm!

Side note: I was today years old when I learnt that orgasms had smells (at least according to Gwyneth they do!)

Gwenyth appeared on American host Jimmy Falon’s talk show to reveal that she’s once again teamed up with Heretic, the fragrance brand behind her previous candle, to create ‘This Smells Like My Orgasm’. She told Jimmy that the whole idea for this line of candles evolved into something “punk rock, feminist” adding that this particular candle “might be more for you to give to your wife.” LOL!

Meanwhile, we’re still trying to figure out how a line of candles can be “punk rock” and “feminist”. Celebs, they’re just like us, right? Not.

So, what does Gwyneth’s ‘orgasm’ smell like? According to the Goop website, the notes consist of tart grapefruit, neroli, and ripe cassis berries blended with gunpowder tea and Turkish rose absolutes for a scent that’s sexy, surprising, and wildly addictive. And yes, this one also costs $75.

Is this candle more appealing to me than her vagina-scented one? Yes. Will I buy it? As soon as I start earning enough to be able to afford candles that cost Rs 5,000!
