In Isolation At Home: Gurmeet Choudhary & Debina Bonnerjee Test Positive For COVID-19

The entertainment world that was mostly hailed to be a calamity-proof industry till now, saw its biggest hit this year with the coronavirus pandemic. The entire industry was brought to a standstill with the shoots being indefinitely stalled. Consequently, while a number of shows were shelved, a lot of actors also had to face inundating pay cuts owing to the current situation.

This explains why the entertainment industry was the first one to resume work as soon as the ‘Unlock’ announcements were made. And while this might have been welcome news for Tv fanatics who have had a long dry spell, the situation is tricky at the moment. We say this because production requires huge background teams and actors to be present on the set where they come in close contact and also tend to touch same surfaces again and again.

We’d say more but all the COVID-19 cases in the entire industry kind of do the task for us. According to the latest reports, actors Gurmeet Choudhary and wife Debina Bonnerjee have now tested positive for COVID-19. Gurmeet took to Twitter to share the news earlier today and shared, “My wife Debina & I have tested positive for COVID-19 today.”

He further shared that they are mostly doing fine and have been home quarantined right now. “We are touch wood doing fine and are taking all the necessary precautions in isolation at home. We request all those who have been in contact with us to take care. Thank you all for your love and support,” Gurmeet wrote.

As per media reports, Gurmeet was shooting for his film The Wife in Jaipur earlier this month and had returned to Mumbai on September 17th. He had also shared in interaction with a leading media daily that all the safety precautions were being taken on the set. He shared in the interview, “We all got tested in the city and on August 16, left for Jaipur, where we were tested again. Six days after everyone tested negative, we went on the set. We had our own cook and there was no outside contact.”

Well, COVID-19 has definitely taught us that one can’t be too safe during the pandemic and thus the best we can do is to stay at home and take care until we are required to do otherwise.

We wish both Gurmeet and Debina a speedy recovery.
