Owing to its phenomenal performances and amazing songs, Zoya Akhtar’s rap-drama Gully Boy box office collection is inching towards Rs 100 crore mark in Bollywood at the end of the first week of its release. With its release on 14th February, the Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer received Valentine’s Day advantage with opening figures of Rs 19.40 crore. It showed a slight decline at the box office on Tuesday but went on to collect a whopping Rs 21.30 crore on Sunday.

Although it slowed down during the week and collected just Rs 8.65 crore on Monday, its place in the Rs 100 crore club of Bollywood movies is absolutely certain. Currently, it stands at an estimated box office collection of around Rs 88 crore as reported by Boxofficeindia.com and is expected to sail across the Rs 100 crore mark during this week.

The film is going strong in the international markets as well. Calling the overseas collections ‘superb’, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and wrote:

Meanwhile, the film has received unanimous appreciation, not only from Indians but from celebrities and rap enthusiasts across the globe. Apart from the commendable work of the protagonist Ranveer Singh, actors like Alia Bhatt, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Kalki Koechlin and Vijay Raaz have also been praised for their astounding performances in the movie.
