Govinda, who was last seen in Rangeela Raja, revealed in a recent interview that the Avatar director James Cameron approached him for the blockbuster movie. At Rajat Sharma's show, Aap Ki Adalat, the actor confessed that he said no to the movie because he was against body paint but contributed to the title of this fantasy film.
"I gave the title of the film. It turned out to be a super hit film. I had informed him that the film would do really well. I told him that I felt it would take seven years for him to complete the film. That infuriated him. He asked, ‘How can you be so sure that I won’t be able to make Avatar for seven years?’ I told him that what he was imagining was something almost impossible. And as predicted by me, the film released 8 or 9 years later and was a super-hit," the actor told Rajat Sharma.
Avatar, which made 279 crores USD hit the theatres in 2009 and was the highest-grossing film until Avengers: Endgame broke the record in 2019. Following this shocking (and questionable) revelation, Twitter had a few things to say about Govinda almost playing the lead in Avatar!
In a podcast in February, James Cameron said that he was considering two popular Hollywood actors for the lead role in Avatar. "I really liked Channing's appeal. I liked Chris' appeal. They were both great guys. But Sam had a quality of voice and a quality of intensity," the director revealed.
Wonder why he didn't name Govinda?
