Now that there’s less than a week left to the release for the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Reunion episode, I’m doing what every die-hard fan must be doing already. That is, watching the entire show once again (BTW, I’m on Season 6 RN). I am also going through all the old interviews that the star cast gave together.
Hey, did you know that the OG cast of the show were officially not allowed to date each other? Apparently, they had to sign a contract that said so. Wow, we bet you didn’t know that one! Well, contract or no contract, over the years, there have been several rumours of the F.R.I.E.N.D.S stars dating each other IRL. Interestingly enough, a lot of them are true!
F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Stars Who Allegedly Dated Each Other
Did you know that Jennifer Aniston dated one of her boyfriends from the show in real life as well? Did you know that Matthew Perry allegedly dated Susie Underpants? Cannot seem to remember which actress we’re talking about? Read on fam ‘cuz we are taking you on a trip down memory lane.
Jennifer Aniston & Tate Donovan aka Joshua
We all know that Jennifer was married to Will aka Brad Pitt when he did a cameo in season 8. But, did you also know that she dated one of her boyfriends from the show? We’re talking about Joshua who was one of Rachel’s customer at Bloomingdale’s. She even threw an entire party to impress him and wore her iconic cheerleader attire.
Turns out, Joshua aka Tate Donovan and Jen’s chemistry was so fab because they dated each other for almost three years. In fact, they broke up a few weeks before Donovan appeared on the show. In an interview with an international daily, he said, “I was just happy to be on the team [of Friends]. The only bummer was Jennifer and I were breaking up at the time. …It was horrible. It was so tough, man. I remember just getting back to my dressing room and just weeping.”
Jennifer & Paul Rudd aka Mike Hannigan
That’s not it! Allegedly, Jen and Phoebe’s husband aka Mike, played by Paul Rudd, also dated for a short while. During an interview, Jen was asked if kissing Paul was weird, to which she replied, “Nah. I’ve kissed him for years.” Paul added, “We’ve made out for decades.” They were actually referring to their movies–The Object of My Affection and Wanderlust.
Matthew Perry & Julia Roberts aka Susie Underpants
Julia Roberts made a guest appearance as Susie Moss in season 2. As interesting as it was to watch her punish Chandler for pulling her skirt in school, the actual story behind her appearance was even more interesting. Apparently, Julia agreed to appear on F.R.I.E.N.D.S. because Matthew wrote a paper on quantum physics for her. And, allegedly they even dated in 1995 for almost a year.
Oh and also, remember how Chandler was hooked to the show Baywatch and couldn’t stop obsessing with its star Yasmine Bleeth? Well, they were dating IRL in 1996.
Courteney Cox & David Arquette aka Malcolm
This one may be a little tricky to recall but do you remember that Phoebe had a stalker named Malcolm? He was actually stalking Phoebs bceause he thought she was his girlfriend, Ursula.
Well, surprise-surprise! Malcolm aka David Arquette is Courteney Cox’s ex-husband. While David appeared on the show in 1996, Courteney and he got married in 1999.
The Guest Stars
Interestingly enough, a lot of guest stars of the show dated each other as well. Charlie Sheen, who played Phoebe’s old flame in Season 2, was married to Denise Richards, who played Ross and Monica’s cousin Cassie.
Ben Stiller, who played Rach’s agressive boyfriend Tommy, is married to Christine Taylor, Ross’ bald girlfriend Bonnie.
Wow, all this info made us quite nostalgic. We cannot wait to find out what more secrets the stars are going to spill during the reunion epsiode on May 27. Excited? Of course, you are!
