If you're a FRIENDS fan, you had probably been waiting for the recently announced reunion episode with bated breath. But the coronavirus happened, and the universe tossed every single plan anyone had for the future out the window. So you probably assumed the worst and that you won't be getting any fresh FRIENDS content while you're locked up inside your homes.
Well, we've got some news that's going to brighten up your quarantine blues. Turns out the cast of your favourite TV show has secretly recorded a 90-minute special. According to UK publication The Sun, Actor Courteney Cox and director Ben Winston filmed a “mock rehearsal” over live video app Zoom.
According to a source, everyone started panicking when filming was cancelled, as it took so long to get their schedules to align. The cast and crew feared that it may take a year or even longer to get them all back together again after the coronavirus outbreak is contained.
So, without wasting time, Monika aka Courtney Cox immediately set up a Zoom meeting for them and they all discussed ideas--brain-storming and bringing in the producers for a session which they called a 'mock rehearsal', and chatted for almost two hours.
“They’ve been having daily meetings and Jen (Aniston)--who has the busiest schedule of the six--has assured them she’ll do whatever she can to ensure they don’t have to wait months to get the reunion filmed," said the source.
“Their Zoom sessions have been brilliant fun, and there’s some hilarious material on there which they hope can be aired as either a series of teasers or even a standalone special,” the source added.
The reunion was announced at the end of February this year, just weeks before the COVID-19 outbreak was classified as a global pandemic. Every member from the original cast--David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, Courtney Cox and Jennifer Aniston--were set to reunite for the episode 16 years after the show had originally aired. While a new date has not been set to start filming the show, this piece of news is sure to pacify fans for the time being.
During such gloomy and uncertain times, this piece of news has certainly lifted our spirits. Now all we need to know is--when will the special air?
