With movements like #TimesUp And #MeToo, women’s issues were shone a bright spotlight on for various reasons. The movements which call for equal pay and aim at curbing sexual harassment in the workplace are just the tip of the iceberg of the efforts being made by various groups to empower women. In the midst of these modern feminist movements, we wish to do our part.
A common misconception associated with female bosses in the workplace is that they are harsh and domineering. These career-oriented ladies are rarely family women or have definitely used their sexuality to further their careers. Sounds familiar? And if you are under the impression that these are just rare isolated instances, Sheryl Sandberg, the COO of Facebook had this to say about her experience with being called bossy, “When a boy asserts himself, society calls him a leader. When a girl does it, she is called bossy. Words like bossy send a message: Don't speak up or take the lead. By middle school, girls are less interested in leading than boys — a trend that continues into adulthood,"
Being India’s largest community for women, we here at POPxo are headstrong about breaking such prejudices. As a group of people working to create quality content for the Indian woman, we have some baller AF female bosses working in our compound.
