‘Never Have I Ever’ Wanted A Fictional Character’s Closet More Than Devi Vishwakumar’s

We know you’ve streamed Mindy Kaling’s Never Have I Ever on Netflix long before you clicked here. Partly because Netflix has become an all-time favourite thing to do while staying indoors, but mostly because the popular series is so so good.

So, of course, it’s given that we watched the show and delved into the Indian-American teen’s wardrobe. And now that season two is officially on the cards (yay!) we are stealing borrowing some fab looks from the witty Devi Vishwakumar’s (played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) wardrobe. Intrigued? Scroll down!

Season 2 Is (Going To Be) Here Y’All!

On July 1, the cast of Never Have I Ever got together on a Zoom call to announce that the show would be renewed for another season and frankly, we could use that bit of good news right now. Now while we wait for a good chunk of time for Season 2 to be available for viewing, here’s looking at, you guessed it, Devi Vishwakumar’s closet for some uber-cool looks.

Oh Man Those Dresses!

Remember the red dress that Devi and her friends wore for that fun TikTok video? Of course, you do! Add that to an entire list of dresses in the protagonist’s closet. Here, we are talking about the floral iteration which is kind of perfect for summer, and that vibrant yellow sustainable number on the show that we’ve had our eye on. Look at our curated edit below, just in case you were planning to browse through and do some online shopping

Layering On-Point

Now you may feel that layering in summer is pretty unrequited, but hear us out. Do you remember the chilly draft of the air conditioner at work or in college which doesn’t let you focus because you are as cold as the Arctic? Yes, that. We may all well be inside but considering going out will resume at some point, take some inspiration from young Devi Vishwakumar’s wardrobe and wear/carry a light jacket to avoid those goosebumps. Another way to layer you ask? Just add a tee underneath your cool jumpsuits and strappy dresses.

Formal & Occasion Wear (Because, Obviously)

Add a blazer to any outfit and voila, it’s a super chic formal number! For presentations and important meetings, it’s best to have one in the wardrobe at all times, almost as much as these striped pants which are calling to us! Oh and don’t forget, occasion wear for family functions and weddings (whenever that part of life resumes) means you can experiment with your traditional wear too. Should you need some tips, you know where to look.

Skirts For Summer? Hell Yeah!

Skirts for summer are still in, even while we are indoors. At-home street style is a thing and now more than ever, it’s the time to cheer yourself up through your daily dressing up. We are slightly partial to the pleated plaid skirt Devi wore in the first episode, but should you want to go the super casual route with a denim mini, don’t hesitate!

Outerwear Is Forever Love

Well well well, we’ve said it already and we stand by it. Come monsoon, you will want to cosy up in a moderately snug outerwear that looks fashion-forward too. As seen in Never Have I Ever, the still-raging tie-and-dye trend works like a cool charm, as do colourful iterations in bomber jackets and jumpers. Oh, and you know the thing about a classic denim jacket—it never goes out of style!
