There was not a dry eye in the crowd last night during the Emmy awards. And no, it wasn't because their favourite shows had one awards, it was actually something much more romantic than that. People everywhere were texting their loved ones "OMG! That's adorable!" And you know what we agree.
Glenn Weiss took home the award for directing the Oscars on ABC. But in his acceptance speech he took a very personal turn talking about his mother. “I’m really grateful to be here. But it’s bittersweet. The person that would be most proud at this moment would be my mom, and she passed away just two weeks ago. Part of my heart is broken, and I don’t think it will ever be repaired. But she’s in me.”
He then directed his speech to his girlfriend, Jan Svendsen who sat in the audience. "Jan, you are the sunshine in my life, and Mom was right [when she said], ‘Don’t ever let go of my sunshine. You know why I don’t like to call you my girlfriend? Because I want to call you my wife."
His girlfriend was completely shocked and just could not control her emotions.
Jan walked up to him on stage and it was one of those moments where you aren't sure if it's a dream or a reality. Glenn stood there with his mom's engagement ring in his hands, the same ring that his father slipped on his mom's finger 67 years ago. He said, "Jan, I want to put this ring that my mom wore on your finger in front of all these people and in front of my mom and your parents watching from above."
He finally went down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Well, the rest we'll let you see yourself. Also, ovaries bursting in 3...2...1...
Future hubby, if you don't pop the question to me in front of the whole world just after you've won an award, you're doing it WRONG!
