Easy Beauty Hacks That Will Keep Makeup From Transferring To Your Mask

Do you know what's worse than staining your new white shirt? Staining your face mask with makeup! Forget about changing the mask, imagine redoing your makeup all over again from scratch - the horror! A solution to this is to quit wearing makeup altogether, but that's a steep step to take for someone who is passionate about makeup. For some, makeup is art and identity. It makes them feel good and empowered and it would be a bummer to give that up due to the current circumstances. While living with masks during COVID-19 is inevitable, we can always find ways to adapt to the new normal.

Here's How To Avoid Makeup From Staining To Your Mask

Beauty mavens, there is hope! Don't worry about makeup transferring to you face makes. It happens to the best of us (Even the one's who are super careful) We can't change the situation, but we can certainly work around it.

1. Long-Wear Products To The Rescue

'Long-wearing' 'Long-lasting' are words you need to look out for on the packaging. Formulas used in these products are designed to stay put on the skin for long hours. They won't smudge, fade or stain easily. You'll find them widely branded on the packaging of products such as liquid lipsticks, foundations, concealers, eyeliners and mascaras. However, there is one con to it. These products have the tendency to dry the skin out. Always keep your skin hydrated before applying makeup to combat chafing.

2. Less Is More

Avoid wearing too much of foundation when stepping out. The mask that covers your mouth and nose area can generate heat and humidity and cause your makeup to melt. You need a product that offers coverage and also allows your skin to breathe at the same time. In this case, that would be a BB cream or a tinted moisturiser.

3. Cut Down On The Primer

You may be wondering why I've mentioned a primer? Isn't it a primer's job to ensure that your makeup stays intact? Well, it does the opposite when you have a face mask on. Too much primer causes product buildup and because of that, your makeup is more likely to transfer to your face mask. You have two options on how to deal with this - apply less primer or wear a hydrating serum. The ball is in your court.

It's time to focus more on the features where your mask doesn't hide. I'm talking about your brows and eyes. Colourful eye makeup, curled falsies, glitter eye stickers, rhinestone studs, pointy arched eyebrows, rainbow brows - the world is your oyster!

5. Invest In A Lightweight Powder

While powders do have the power to set your makeup, it's important for you to be mindful about how much product you use. Too much powder will not only mattify your skin but give it an undesirable white, chalky finish. Use a lightweight powder and always use a beauty sponge or a compact puff to work the product into your skin instead of letting it just sit there on the surface.
