Drunk Goons Beat Up Actress Mahie Gill & Crew On The Sets Of Ekta Kapoor’s Web Series

Dev D actress Mahie Gill is currently shooting for Ekta Kapoor’s web series titled Fixer, which also stars TV actors Shabbir Ahluwalia and Karishma Sharma in pivotal roles. Fixer focuses on the life of a tainted Anti Terrorism Squad officer from Delhi, who is drawn into the murky underbelly of Mumbai’s movie mafia and industrialists, and soon becomes a fixer.

Yesterday, a horrific act of vandalism happened on the sets of the upcoming show. The cast and crew, including Mahie herself, were assaulted and beaten up by drunk goons while the team was shooting on Mira Road, Mumbai. The producer Sakett Saawhney claimed that the team had official permission to shoot in the premises and had also paid the location manager.

Ekta Kapoor shared a video of the team talking about the incident on Instagram and they detailed how they were brutally assaulted.

Sakett further mentioned that the cops said they will take care of what’s happening, but they shut the compound gates, elaborating, “They said come to court and then take your stuff. This is total harassment. We have consciously taken a call to not file a police complaint as you will call the other party, give them an NC (non-cognisable offence) and they will be out on bail. We, on the other hand, will forever be running to the court and be branded as ‘criminals’. It is harassment for the industry.”

Show’s associate producer to Rajveer Ahuja, in a statement, revealed, “We were shooting at Thane-based Shipyard area when some goons came and attacked us with rods and sticks. In that scuffle, over 10 people received grievous injuries of which the web series’ Director of Photography, Santosh Tundyal was seriously injured.”

Director Tigmanshu Dhulia too shared the same video as Ekta on Twitter and said he was there on the sets when the incident happened.

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit also shared pictures of the injured crew members and the actress, and asked CM Devendra Fadnavis to come to the rescue.

We hope the authorities take action against the violence.
