Deepika Padukone keeps throwing us curveballs with her offbeat looks, they are wild and imaginative, well-suited for a goddess like her! She didn't shy away from wearing a luxurious cape over a pristine white saree...
..Neither did she turn away from stepping out in this headscratcher of a drape with faux blouse sleeves!
It appears Ms Padukone and her stylist Shaleena Nathani cannot help themselves when it comes to getting decked up in totally unique ensembles which leave their spectators puzzled and in awe! Keeping up with that streak, the actress stepped onto the red carpet at a Time 100 event, a list she was inducted into just last week, in a 'skirt-saree' type situation that has us looking for clues as to what exactly it can be.
This Anamika Khanna creation has a floor-grazing pallu attached to a detailed skirt giving it the appearance of a traditional saree while functioning as a contemporary dress in reality. She complemented her outfit with a dark lip marsala colour and emerald green earrings by Farah Khan Fine Jewellery.
The off-white and ivory ensemble looked ethereal on the leggy beauty. We can understand her stance on giving the classic saree look a more modern twist to suit the global nature of the Time 100 event. We hope industry giants come up with a name for this style soon enough because we suspect this look to make more appearances in the future. If Deepika Padukone wore this, many fashionistas are soon going to follow suit. Watch what she had to say at the event about her role in the world as an entertainer and a spokesperson to the media:
Deepika Padukone was recently seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat. She garnered critical acclaim for playing the role of Rani Padmavati of Chittor. Though mired in controversy, the film was well received by Indian audiences who loved her portrayal of the Sinhalese princess turned Rajput queen. The actress's next project has been put on hold due to co-star Irrfan Khan's poor health and ongoing treatment abroad.
