Deepika Slams Sexist Reporter Who Said It's Ranveer's Money Invested In Chhapaak

Deepika Padukone is the real-life queen of Bollywood. She's supremely talented and a versatile actress. From movies like Piku and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani to ones with grand sets and larger than life costumes like Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat, DP has shown that she can embody any role to perfection. Not just this, she is also a firm advocate of feminism and mental health in the country which makes her more lovable, if possible.

Right now, DP is busy promoting her upcoming film Chhapaak with which she will be coming back to the big screens after a gap of two years. The movie is directed by Meghna Gulzar and is a biopic on the life of acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal. The star is also producing the movie and it's her first time doing so. The trailer has already received huge applause. We can't even imagine what will happen once the movie comes out on January 10.

However, somehow in India, even if you are achieving everything on your own merit, a woman just cannot be enough on her own without a man. This was proved today during a media interaction at the launch of Chhapaak's title track.

During the question and answer session between the journalists and Deepika Padukone about the film, one of them said that it's safe to assume that the money invested in the film is actually her husband, Ranveer Singh's. He said, "ghar ka paisa laga hua hai".

As soon as the reporter insinuated this, Deepika shut down the sexist remark. She made it clear that it is her hard-earned money and has nothing to do with her spouse. She slammed, "Excuse me! Yeh kisne bola?! Yeh mere khud ke paise hain, excuse me! Meri mehnat hai! (Excuse me! Who told you that? This is my own money. My hard work!)."

We don't understand! It's 2020 now and people still have the guts to ask such questions, to promote such a regressive culture. More power to you, DP. We are sure the film is going to be inspiring and a huge success. Just like you!
