Ganesh Chaturthi: Bollywood Stars Bring Bappa Home To Kick-Start Ganpati Celebrations

Come September and the festivities for Ganesh Chaturthi begin with great fervour and zeal all across the country. Marking the birth of Lord Ganesha, this festival lasts for 10 days and ends with the immersion of a Ganesha idol into a water body, where it's believed to be returning to Kailash Parvat to Parvati and Shiva. From bringing a Ganpati Bappa idol home to praying with their families and friends, Bollywood stars are also found brimming with happiness as they celebrate this festival in their own unique ways.

Here's how some of our favourite Bollywood celebs marked Ganesh Chaturthi, this year:

Shilpa Shetty Kundra was first spotted in Chinchpokli, Mumbai, with a beautiful, eco-friendly Ganesha idol which she welcomed into her home. Later, she was seen celebrating the festival with her husband and son, all dressed up in traditional Maharashtrian attire.

Vivek Oberoi, who earlier this year essayed the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his biopic, also welcomed a Ganesha idol home and celebrated with his family.

Sonali Bendre, who returned to work after being successfully beating cancer, penned a heartwarming message on social media on how she's glad to be back - "healthier and stronger" - to celebrate this festival with her family this year.

Jeetendra and his children, Ekta and Tusshar Kapoor, were spotted celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi in a grand manner. Jeetendra was seen with his grandchild Lakshya on his back while chanting hymns during puja in a temple. Aren't they adorable?

Salman Khan's sister, the interior designer Arpita Khan Sharma, was seen bringing a Ganesha idol to her home and doing puja with her family. Reportedly, she is expecting her second child with husband and Loveyatri actor, Aayush Sharma.

Soha Ali KhanKunal Khemu and their daughter Inaaya also attended Arpita's Ganpati Puja. They posed happily next to a Ganpati idol and looked lovely as ever!

Sonu Sood celebrated the joyous occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi by keeping a Ganpati puja at home with his family.

Govinda was also seen celebrating the festival with his family.

Neil Nitin Mukesh was spotted amidst grand festivities at home with his family too. The highlight was his 11-month-old daughter Nurvi, who was dolled up in a rani pink lehenga-choli and looked absolutely adorable.

Sunny Leone celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with her husband Daniel, sons Noah and Asher and daughter Nisha at their friend's home. In fact, the couple decided to coordinate their Indian attire with two of their kids and looked picture-perfect!

Here's how our favourite TV stars celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi this year:

BFFs Sanaya Irani, Mohit Sehgal, Arjun Bijlani and Neha Swami decided to amp up the festive vibe by keeping a grand Ganpati Puja at home.

Celebrity host Maniesh Paul celebrated the festival with his wife and children at home.

Famous TV couple Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee also ringed in the festivities by keeping a Ganpati Puja at home.

Television's favourite comedian Bharti Singh was also found celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi by doing a Ganpati puja at home.

However, the biggest and most-awaited Ganesh Chaturthi celebration in Bollywood would no longer take place at RK Studios this year as it was sold just a few months ago. According to an entertainment portal, Randhir Kapoor confirmed by saying, "That was the last Ganesh Chaturthi celebration for us. RK Studios hi nahi raha... to kahan karengey? Papa started the tradition 70 years ago with a lot of love for the Trunk God, but now, we don't have a place where we can hold the celebrations the way we did at RK Studios. We all love Bappa and have immense faith in him, but I guess, we can't continue with the tradition anymore."
