Plixxo Influencer Anupriya Kapur On Not Conforming To What Society Calls ‘Normal’

In a country like ours, a woman’s life is never really her own. We are raised with the expectation of creating a family and of course, taking care of it. None of it remains a choice and all of it is imposed on us like a necessity. And our own life, dreams, and preferences take a back seat. Well, that’s exactly why we hail a queen who challenges it all when we see one. Plixxo influencer Anupriya Kapur surely belongs to the list. In a recent chat for #PlixxoUpCloseAndPersonal, Anupriya talked about life after divorce, being a single mom and how she learned to follow her heart.

“My literal and metaphorical journey started 3-4 years ago. Me, a single mom… no wait, me as a woman who had just gotten out of a marriage, with my son all set to thread a new path that was going to change my life forever. Had I thought of family and friends who tried innumerable times to talk me out of my decisions, I wouldn’t really be as happy as I am today! How did I do it? Well, I decided to simply not conform to what society calls ‘’normal,” shared Anupriya.

In the beginning, she was unsure about her calling. Anupriya started out as a ghostwriter, blogger, and fitness influencer. Then gradually started travelling, exploring, reading, and building herself into a person who had started loving life for the way it is. This was the beginning of her journey as a lifestyle and travel blogger. And you know what’s the best part? Anupriya’s father was there to support her through every step.

She shares, “I have my Father who supports me. He has never judged my actions or me, just stood by me and I by him. Initially, I was hesitant in seeking help but then I knew I can’t do it all on my own and leaning in is the only way for me. Times like these make you realise who loves you truly and who doesn’t. In the name of advice and concern, all I actually felt is contempt and disregard for my wishes which made me realise the toxicity I had surrounded myself with. I was able to give time to my travelling and explore places across the country and abroad as well.”

Of course, there were times when her son had to adjust to Anupriya’s absence as she explored her life as a travel blogger. However, with time he understood that this was something that his mom needed to do and started supporting her dreams. “There were times when my son would feel lonely or confused as to why I needed this, but today, I know I couldn’t have asked for a more understanding child who himself supports me and pushes me to do what I believe in, what I love. He understood how much I love my work and never really questioned me for being away. Instead, he knew I was there, even when I was away. That made our bond even stronger and hence I proudly advise you to listen to your heart,” shares Anupriya.

In the end, Anupriya has just one message for everyone: “Do not waste a minute trying to adhere to every single person’s Whys and Hows and Nos, cause this is your life. Ek hi hai, toh live it like it’s the only one! You owe it to yourself!”

Isn’t that such a liberating approach to life?
