While most people often concentrate on getting their brows plucked, rather over-plucked, Padmaavat brought the unibrow trend in Deepika Padukone's look as Rani Padmavati. Unibrows began being noticed in Bollywood with Kajol and later, we saw Vidya Balan in Begum Jaan owning her unibrow look. In fact, Royals singer Lorde sport this look for a cover shoot. Model Sophia Hadjipanteli wrote her own beauty rules and started #UnibrowMovement. Unfortunately, in all these cases, the unibrow-look was not well received, especially, with Padmaavat, bashing continued and social media was fairly divided.
Now that we look at Instagram’s biggest beauty movement, it’s ironic that we see fuller unibrows popping up on our feeds. Although bold-brow outliers like Lucy Hale, Zendaya and Cara Delevingne have proved in last few years that standards of beauty have risen and cool-eyebrows can’t be limited to one-size-fits-all.
In 2018, people are taking unibrows to another level by proudly showing them off both on Instagram and on the runway — and we can only think of praising it.
