To cheer up the nation in desolate times and spread the message of unity and perseverance in face of the current crisis, the B-town is soon coming with the I For India, a web concert. Zoya Akhtar and Karan Johar's brainchild, this would reportedly be a from-home concert that will have some of the most illustrious names from the industry joining in for the cause. Both national, as well as international stars, have been roped in to perform for the same.
“Karan and Zoya have been coordinating with the actors for a few weeks and have got almost all of Bollywood under this project. The actors were asked to share individual acts not exceeding four minutes,” revealed a source to Mumbai Mirror. As per the reports, both Zoya and Karan have been working to make the concert happen for a few weeks now.
Big names from the industry including Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Varun Dhawan, and Sidhartha have already been roped in for the same. Additionally, cricketers Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Sachin Tendulkar are also expected to join in, interact with the people, and urge them to stay patient and strong during the current crisis.
The who's who of the Indian music industry have also agreed to join in and thus you can expect some soulful performances from the likes of Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Asha Bhosle, Shankar Mahadevan-Ehsaan Loy, and more. Javed Akhtar and wife Shabana Azmi are also speculated to join in.
On the international front, Will Smith, singer Bryan Adams, and The Jonas Brothers have agreed to come up with special performances as well. Needless to say, with a star list this expansive, the concert is all set to be a major event and can successfully be used to raise awareness about the current crisis as well as the frontline workers, which happen to be the two major objectives behind it. The participants have already started recording and sending videos for the concert.
The concert would be aired on Facebook this weekend. The organisers are expecting to raise funds from across the globe through the Facebook Donation button. These funds are being raised for the Give India Foundation and to support those displaced by the coronavirus crisis.
It was only earlier this month that the One World: Together At Home concert was organised. The event was organised by Lady Gaga and featured more than 100 Hollywood celebs and singers. Approximately $127 million were raised through One World and both Priyanka Chopra and Shahrukh participated in the same. Here's hoping I For India proves to be equally successful in raising funds for COVID-19 relief and also, manages to instil some hope in the distressing times.
