We’ll Miss You, Ayushmann! Actor Announces Long Break From Films

In just six years, Ayushmann Khurrana has proven that there’s no one quite like him in the Hindi film industry. The Dream Girl actor has become synonymous with content-driven cinema, proving over and over what a competent actor and singer he is. With back-to-back hits, this national award-winning actor has had the kind of year most performers can only dream about.

Recently, the actor announced that, from November, he will take a long break from films to spend time with his family. Tahira, a cancer survivor, has become an inspiration for many because of how candid she has been about her struggle. And Ayushmann is a proud husband who never misses a chance to appreciate his wife’s indomitable spirit. During the course of Tahira’s treatment, the actor often took to social media to express his admiration for her. While he has been there for his wife at all times, he recently said that he wants some time off. “All of last year and most of this year, I was shooting four back-to-back films. So this past one year was really tough. But now I am taking care of it, and I will strike a balance. I am taking time off from mid-November to be with my family,” Ayushmann told a leading daily.

According to reports, the actor will work on the promotions for Bala (scheduled to release on November 22) and will also wrap up the remaining work on Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan, which is set to release in March 2020. “I will soon have to get busy with the promotion of Bala even as I complete my work on Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan,” he said.

“I haven’t signed any film after Bala. After November 15, I am completely free to spend time with my family. I do realise my children are growing up and my wife needs time from me. I am making a conscious attempt to take time off work periodically,” Ayushmann added.

Ayushmann is unsure how long his break will last. “I don’t know how long the break will be. It could be two to three months, maybe more,” the actor informed.

“I will be looking at scripts while I am home. Even if I lose out on work (during the vacation), it’s fine. There is an imperative need to take time off. It rejuvenates you,” he added.

In a recent interview, Tahira, who underwent a double mastectomy last year, revealed that she was severely depressed at one point in her life. She said, “My husband was shooting; I would spend hours at night crying, and put up the front of a happy person in the morning so that I didn’t look like a loser before my children, who were aged two and four then.”

During the treatment, Ayushmann had shared Tahira’s picture on Instagram and thanked everyone for their support. He wrote, “Thanks for your wishes & support. The last 7 days have been tough but we have decided to have a happy life state & fight this challenge. I’m proud of my warrior princess.”

Earlier, in an interview, he opened up about his wife’s illness and said, “She was diagnosed on my birthday [September 14]. We had to maintain a happy life state to deal with it. In fact, after we got to know about her condition, we went to see Manmarziyaan that evening. We told ourselves, ‘Okay, we’ve been diagnosed. We can’t go home and cry about it. It’s better to go for a film.’ So, we watched the film, came back and got the date for her operation.”

We’re happy that the actor is finally getting some time off. But, we’ll miss you a LOT, Ayushmann!
