It’s funny to reminisce how growing up, we were always told to stay off the internet and do ‘something more productive’ instead of spending time on social media. With the advent of apps like Instagram and newly emerging smartphones, times have quickly changed everybody’s perspectives – including our too-cool-to-be-true parents. I, now, come home to a mommy who spends most of her time watching endless food recipes and bhagwaan ki aartis on YouTube and a dad who watches Voot and Hotstar for his daily dose of laughter and news updates. Don’t you find it cute when they ask you questions like “Did you KNOW you could find THIS here, as well?” with a surprised look on their face. We, do too!
Hence, when something similar was experienced with Bollywood’s favourite father-daughter duo on Instagram, we couldn’t wait to share it with you. It all began when Sonam Kapoor attended the 150th-anniversary celebration of IWC Schaffhausen (a luxury Swiss watch company) at Geneva, this week. With some of the hottest Hollywood stars around, including Cate Blanchett, Bradley Cooper and James Marsden, our Sonam darling just couldn’t keep off the dance floor!

Flaring her beautiful princess-gown in the air and twisting her hips with a little bit of jive and a lot of rock-and-roll, she ends up dancing up like nobody’s watching. Why shouldn’t she? While acing all the right moves on the Kings Of Leon ‘Sex on Fire’ song, she clearly proved that she’s an absolute delight to watch.
While it was damn fun to see her shimmy-away like this, the real fun lies in the comment section of her Instagram page where this video was posted yesterday. It seemed like daddy Anil Kapoor had no idea where her daughter was dancing this sexily. Giving rise to bundles of curiosity, he commented the most obvious question, “Where is this beta”, to which Sonam simply replies, “at IWC gala daddy“.

Doesn’t this remind you of all those subtle “Kahoon ho beti?” questions and sometimes, not-so-subtle reactions of our protective fathers when they had no clue where you were? Looks like Papa Anil is certainly one of them! Therefore, a question that could have easily been part of a one-on-one conversation between this daddy and his not-so-little girl was conveniently replaced by the awesome force of Instagram. It’s adorable how parents try to keep up with their children’s lives by staying up to date on social media, isn’t it? Meanwhile, we can’t wait to get our hands on some more inside-details of this fabulous event which I’m sure you, me and Daddy Anil will be eagerly looking forward to.
