At the grand finale of FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week 2021 last night, we saw actor Ananya Panday closing the show for ace designer Ruchika Sachdeva. Ananya sported a colour-blocked pleated skirt with a yellow pleated sleeve crop top and to be honest, she looked like summer personified. Her outfit was paired with super wearable makeup, think a minimal, dewy base topped off with a statement red lip. With summer in full swing, this is one look you definitely need to cop, especially if you're going to be attending weddings in open areas (hello, COVID).
Prep skin well with a lightweight moisturiser. This will prevent your makeup from looking cakey and will smoothen skin, making foundation and concealer application seamless. Look for skin brightening ingredients like vitamin C in your moisturiser formula to perk up dull skin. Then, apply a primer on the areas where your skin tends to get oily (T-zone, lids or your cheeks).
Take very little foundation and dot it all over your face. Using a damp makeup sponge, start blending it. Slowly add more foundation as and where needed. Then, go in with a concealer wherever you need extra coverage. Apply a concealer that is a shade lighter than your skin tone under your eyes, along the bridge of your nose and on your chin. Blend well.
If you look carefully, you'll see how makeup artist Anil Chinnappa has gone lighthanded on contouring and instead, used blush to add dimension to Ananya Panday's face. Instead of opting for a rosy shade, go for a colour that is more on the deeper plum side and blend it well. Tap in a shimmer-free powder on the high points of your face using a fluffy brush.
Brush your eyebrows and fill them in using a brow pencil. Apply a matte brown shade in your crease and a shimmery golden one in the center of your lids. Blend it well using a fluffy brush. Using a black pencil or gel eyeliner, draw on thick liner on your top lids. Then, take a volumizing mascara and swipe on multiple coats on your top and bottom lashes. Don't worry if they look a little matted, a little clumpy is cute!
Tie your look together with a swipe of a deep red, satin-finish lipstick!
What are your thoughts on Ananya Panday's makeup look? Did you love it or nah? Tell us in the comments!
