Amrita Rao On Casting For Ishq Vishq Sequel: I Think I Can Be Cast Opposite Ishaan Khatter

At some point in our lives, we’ve all liked Ishq Vishq, the movie that marked the debut of Shahid Kapoor, Amrita Rao and Shenaz Treasurywala in Bollywood. The college romance, friendship, envy and drama made it a fun watch. The film was a sleeper hit and fans couldn’t get enough of Shahid’s chocolate-boy looks. He even won the Best Debut Male award for his charismatic performance.

Cut to 2019, 16 years later, producer Ramesh Taurani opened up about the plan to make a sequel of the film. However, the cast has not been confirmed yet. "Yes, we are making a sequel to Ishq Vishk. The story is in the scripting stage and could be about a teenage romance. Hopefully, in the next two-three months, we will lock the script and start looking for the director and cast,” he shared with a leading newspaper.

While no official statement about the cast was released by the filmmakers, grapevine’s hint at Ishaan Khatter playing the lead in the sequel doubled fans’ excitement. An undisclosed source had revealed, “The makers are currently working on the script for the movie. Ishq Vishk was very young in nature, and hence, who better than Ishaan Khatter, who exhibits the required charm and innocence for the role. Apparently, the idea has been discussed with Ishaan but that's it.”

And now, Amrita Rao, who played the role of Payal has spilled the beans on who all she feels should be cast for the reboot.

In an interview to IANS, Amrita said, "The way I look right now, I think I can be cast opposite Ishaan Khatter (Shahid's brother)."

When asked to choose between Sara Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria, the Vivah actress said, "Maybe Sara can play Payal and Tara can play Shenaz's character."

Interesting pick, no? Who do you think should play the characters? Do let us know!

Unfortunately, a report suggests that Ishaan has rubbished all rumours about him acting in the sequel. He said, “No I am not doing Ishq Vishq 2.”

Earlier, in an interview, Ishaan spoke about some of his most memorable moments shared with his brother Shahid. The Dhadak actor said, "I remember visiting him on the sets of various films, the first being Ishq Vishk. I became friends with the director’s son and would land up on my brother’s set uninvited. It was great fun, and a great learning experience."

On the work front, Ishaan will be seen romancing Ananya Panday in Ali Abbas Zafar’s next, helmed by Varun Sharma. Ali and Ishaan have been discussing the project, which is believed to be a romantic story. It is expected to go on floors by this year-end.
