Alia Bhatt is on a roll right now. First Raazi, then Gully Boy, and now Kalank, all the while promoting Brahmastra too. Films after films and looks after looks, Alia has taken Bollywood by storm with her back-to-back commendable performances.
Earlier today, the 25-year-old actress took to Instagram and shared her first look from her upcoming film, Kalank. Ever since the pictures of her look got leaked a few months ago, we have been waiting for this day to come and now that it is here, we are having a déjà vu.
With the jewellery including the maangtika, the heavy jhumkas and choker necklace, the nath as well as the makeup (look at the red bindis and kohl-rimmed eyes as well), Roop and Rani Padmavati's looks are extremely similar. They are both wearing red, too!
While Padmaavat is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Kalank is a Karan Johar production. Also, both the movies are period drama films but time zones apart - Padmaavat is set in the 13th century while Kalank in the 1940s. Makes one wonder the reason behind such uncanny resemblance, doesn't it?
Come to think of it, Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone have quite a lot in common. Ranbir Kapoor's name, without any fault of our own, is the first thought.
Wait! Remember Aishwarya Rai as Jodha in Jodhaa Akbar? Alia's new look takes inspiration from her too!
And Aishwarya-Ranbir's romance left a long-lasting impression on us in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, need we remind anyone that?
Karan Johar shared the first look of the movie a couple of days ago and wrote:
"A film that was born in my heart and mind 15 years ago....a film I passionately believe in...the last film my father worked on before he left us....it was his dream to see this film come through...I couldn’t fulfil his dream then....my spirit was broken....but today his wish has found a relationship with celluloid....the story of turbulent relationships and eternal love has found a voice....the film has been woven, nurtured and visualised by ABHISHEK VARMAN....and the film Is KALANK! Set in the 40’s but it’s heart lives on.....TOMORROW the journey begins.....am excited ...anxious and emotional about this one...I do hope you join us on our path to undying love.....#KALANK".
The film is set to release on April 19, 2019. Other than Alia, it also stars Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Madhuri Dixit. How excited are you to see such an amazing cast sharing the screen for the first time?
