While Alaya F might be just one film old in the entertainment industry, there’s hardly been a moment since her 2020 debut when she wasn’t on the tabloids. Clearly, while her movie tanked, the actress soared. Be it her super interactive and unique approach to social media or dating life rumours, she has constantly remained in the public eye since the release of Jawani Janeman. Speaking of her dating life, it was last year in October that she left the gossip mills churning after attending Aaishvary Thackeray’s birthday.
For the unversed, Aaishvary is the grandson of late Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. And while Alaya might have dismissed the rumours by calling him “just a good friend”, her mom, Pooja Bedi has a slightly different take on the relationship.
Speaking about Alaya’s love life in a recent interview, Pooja shared, “As far as personal life goes, there are always speculations. I’ve seen about seven news items about who they think Alaya is dating, and then there’s a question of who she actually wants to be with. Either way, irrespective of whatever it is, the point essentially is that in today’s day and age, it is not necessary for an actor to be projected a certain way.”
Now, while she might not have explicitly said anything about Alaya’s dating life, she did hint at how it won’t be a problem if Alaya was actually dating someone. She also talked about how things have changed since the time she made her Bollywood debut. “In my time, things were so different! You had to be boyfriend-free, a virgin, and unmarried. Today, every single human is entitled to have a personal life,” Pooja said.
She further added, “Kareena Kapoor Khan is doing well even after marriage. So, I would say, there’s been a sea change in the industry and it has happened because the mentality of the audience has changed dramatically, thanks to social media.”
It was earlier in February that Alaya had dismissed all the dating rumours. “He is just a very good friend. Our moms know each other, my grandad knows his mom, we have known each other for a very long time. It’s just now that the media notices a photo of us together and assumes that something is going on. We have been doing acting classes for a very long time, and also go dancing classes together; if the paparazzi had clicked us earlier, they would have a lot more pictures. That’s why we are bound to click together; I find him to be quite funny,” she had said while talking about Aaishvary.
In all honesty “just a very good friend” is actually the cliche that actors mostly use to deny dating rumours with the person that they are, in fact, dating! Well, this and the fact that Alaya is often spotted with Aaishvary and his family. Now, while Alaya may or may not be dating him, the one thing that we can say with certainty is that mom Pooja agrees to the match.
