As part of Lockdown 4.0 relaxations, air travel is all set to resume in India on Monday, May 25. And while airlines and frequent flyers have reasons to rejoice, we can't lose sight of the fact that this relaxation needs to be navigated really carefully. Or this will prove to be counter-productive and escalate into a bigger problem as we try to fight a global pandemic here.
Keeping the same in mind, the Ministry of Civil Aviation on Wednesday released a set of guidelines to ensure that everything goes on smoothly and social distancing is maintained through it all. These guidelines need to be followed by everyone including the airport authorities, passengers, and airline staff.
Planning to fly soon? Here's what you'd have to keep in mind:
Here's what the flying experience during the time of corona is going to be all about:
No newspapers, magazines, or similar stationery would be allowed at the airports.
All the passengers would have to board the plane according to the sequence of their seats.
No queues are to be formed outside the plane lavatories and passengers have been advised to limit the usage.
A water bottle would be kept on every seat of the plane. However, no meals would be served on the plane and passengers are prohibited from carrying their own food as well.
Upon arrival, the passengers would have to wait for their luggage while maintaining the social-distancing rules.
Lastly, we need to keep in mind that the relaxations have been levied for our necessary travel purposes and should not be exploited. This needs to be kept in mind that we remain as vulnerable to the coronavirus infection during lockdown 4.0 as we were in the earlier phases and thus social distancing is our biggest weapon in the current crisis. Stay safe!
