These Hilarious Illustrations On The Struggles Of Doing Yoga Are So. On. Point!

If I had to choose one ultimate truth to live my life by, it would definitely be that pizza is the greatest invention that mankind has thought of, since sliced bread. As a foodie, I find myself craving the company of complex carbohydrates more than human beings, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Unfortunately, the ratio of my love for food to my will to exercise has never been ideal and I am the only one to blame. Especially when it comes to one of the most effective workout regimes in the fitness world - yoga. Not only do I feel like my limbs are on fire with the strain, I am pretty sure I look like a sweaty and struggling potato when I’m doing the yoga poses, being nowhere as graceful as all those fit women who radiate positivity while they’re working out.

Reading my mind perfectly, artist Adriana Rodríguez León has come up with some of the most hilarious illustrations on what it’s like to struggle with yoga and I think I have just found my spirit animal in her drawings!

On the forefront, Adriana’s illustrations depict the yoga expert Adriene Mishler striking one graceful pose after another, as seen in her YouTube videos, while in the background, you can see Adriana’s caricature struggling with the same moves. Her struggle sure as hell looks too relatable to anyone who has either just started doing yoga, or just plain hates to work out!

Check out her drawings below, and try not to whisper “Oh shit, same!” as you go through them and painfully relate to all the situations!

1. Who said this is supposed to be easy?!

Staff pose. Dandasana. I woke up very early today! I had a good night sleep! And I had time to do yoga in the morning before work. And my features pose is this one! This pose made me sweat and tremble, I never imagined that it was going to be difficult to stay in this pose for 5 breathes. What it struggle more was my feet and legs, it was very strange not to be able to point my feet to the sky.... Why? And my legs were trembling... And my shoulder blades had a hard time... Okay I had a lot going on! 😂 but... I felt really good at the end of my routine. I've been doing more poses than the routine I follow from @adrienelouise my favorites. So I've been doing 40-50 minutes. Before I could barely do 20-25 min. Thank you for all your support and have a nice week! I hope to upload more of this days! Namaste! 🙏 ❤️

2. How does one do this without trembling like the last leaf on a tree?

Plank pose. Kumbhakasana. This pose was my nightmare since the beginning with downward dog. I couldn't stay for more than two breaths. But recently I've been doing it better, I broke my right wrist years ago, and I didn't put to much weight in it because it hurted a lot. But now I can say that my yoga practice has made my wrist stronger, the pain is almost gone on my left wrist and my right one pains a little but I can manage it. I hope that in the future the pain disappears. And aside from that my core and chest have to work a lot to maintain the integrity of the pose! I can feel that I start to tremble at the 5th breath... Lol. Has anyone has this experience? Tell me in the comments. Namaste! 😊 🙏🙏🙏 ❤️ check @adrienelouise I follow her YouTube videos and I've learned so much from her routines. 3. In your face, yoga! (Literally)

Crow pose. Since my yoga poses are improving I though to myself why not try something new? Well... Let's see how that turned out, at first I did some warming for the balance, some breathing and when I felt confident I elevated my legs on my arms... And didn't even make it to first breath, I was so concentrate on the balance I forgot to breathe and FELL ON MY FACE! 😂😂😂 omg I didn't expect that... Obviously I went to my room for a pillow for the next try... And landed on my pillow and not the yoga mat. I don't know if anyone has this experience like me, but I keep trying until I can do it. Maybe tomorrow I can or not, but that won't stop me from doing it! I love yoga, since February I started and I won't stop! 😊 I love you guys! 💖 namaste. Check @adrienelouise YouTube channel. 4. Helplessly falling over in 3..2..1...

5. Oh yaas, this is more like it! Who’s killing it at yoga? Yes, I am! Look at me, healthy AF!

6. Nope, nope, nope, nope...I was wrong.

7. Oh, gravity, thou art a royal pain in the ass!

8. My body shouldn’t even be making these cracking noises! What am I, 90?!

Low lunge. Hello! Another pose I've been struggling with. I can't help but feel the need to grunt every time the pose takes to long, like when @adrienelouise is describing the benefits of the pose and how you have to make it. Omg I feel like my groin will tear apart 😂😂😂 (sorry for my language) lol its so difficult to stay in pose. And you have to do it in a certain video a lot of times! 😭😱 I didn't expect that. My legs feel like noodles right now! Well I hope tomorrow I don't wake up too sore. Have a nice day everyone! Thank you for your comments I really love to read you! ❤️namaste! 🙏 #sketch #scarletadrianne #sketching #sketchbook #sketches #drawing #doodle #draw #dailyyoga #doodlesofinstagram #dook #doodles #yoga #yogaeverydamnday #yogadrawing #yogaforbeginners #yogisofinstagram #yogi #yogagram #yogaposes #yogafun #yogalove #yogadiary #yogainspiration

While these illustrations had me laughing and wincing in equal measure, maybe I could give yoga another try! I applaud and respect every single person out there living the good life and embracing yoga as a permanent part of their healthy lifestyle, and hey, maybe it is time to say goodbye to pizza, right?

Haha, nope.
