Do you want to know something that will make you feel like an ancient relic? It’s been almost a decade since Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara hit the theatres. Wait, what? Wasn’t it just yesterday when Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol, and Farhan Akhtar were singing Senorita together? Apparently not!
Now, you might be wondering why are we suddenly talking about this film. Well, that’s because we have waited way too long to get a sequel of ZNMD. And, *drumroll* it’s finally happening! Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar are planning to make another road trip movie and they already have a star-cast in mind.
If you are as excited as us then hold on, because it gets even better! The upcoming sequel is going to feature an all-girls road trip. A little birdie revealed in an interview with a leading daily that Farhan will direct the sequel while Zoya will co-write it with him.
They said, “While Farhan acted in ZNMD, this time around, he will be directing this yet-untitled film. It is written by him and Zoya, and though the concept of the road trip, remains the same, the narrative is diametrically different from what they did in the 2011 film. They have locked on the broad idea of this story through the lockdown.”
Not just that, Farhan has already decided that one out of the three protagonists is none other than Alia Bhatt. The close confidant added, “He has discussed the probable collaboration with Alia, and she is definitely excited to come on board the film. More meetings will take place throughout the year, and everyone is optimistic about this association to work out. Apart from Alia, two more A-list actresses will join the gang, however, they are yet to decide on the names.”
Wow, three leading ladies sharing the screen space together? That would surely be something!
Although we are super excited about the upcoming movie, it is still in the nascent stage. Moreover, Alia has quite a busy year ahead of her with movies like Gangubai Kathiawadi and Brahmastra lined up for release.
However, we stoked about finally having a three-women road trip film after ZNMD and Dil Chahta Hai. Can’t wait to see who is cast next.
