Yami Gautam Reveals She Was Recorded Without Consent & It’s Shocking

Bollywood stars rule our social media feeds. But how do stars handle this obsession? Actor Yami Gautam opened up about a recent incident where she was recorded without consent and how disturbing it was.

Instagram

In an interview, Yami shared, “These days anyone can record a video anytime, without consent. Some boy came on my farm, a very young boy, a teenager who must be 19-20, and requested my staff ‘can we take a picture’. I am very open, you know, welcoming people. It’s a small town and people want to come and visit and talk. And, I am very happy to do that. I thought he is taking a picture but he was taking a video. A video of… it was so bad, and that person apparently got millions of views, he’s celebrating his vlog.”

The Bala actress shared how people have been flocking to her home in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh to make videos. In fact, whenever she is at home, people try to record her constantly.

Doesn’t this sound like an episode of Black Mirror? While technology has given us a chance to move closer to our favourite stars, it can also be a threat to their safety.

When Alia Bhatt’s Privacy Went For A Toss

Twitter

A week ago, Alia Bhatt also raised the issue of celebrity privacy when she was photographed without consent. The actress was in her home when she spotted two photographers taking her picture. She wrote on the ‘Gram , “I was at my house, having a perfectly normal afternoon, sitting in my living room when I felt something watching over me. I looked up and saw two men on the terrace of the neighbouring building with a camera right at me. In what world is this okay and is this allowed? This is a gross invasion of someone’s privacy. There’s a line that you must not cross, and it is safe to say that all lines were crossed today”

Instances like these are a reminder that fame comes with a massive price. People often forget that celebs aren’t props for social media vlogs, posts or videos. Stars are humans too. I hope people remember that!
