#WinterWedding: How to Style the Sari This Wedding Season!

It’s that time of the year when those pretty bells ring. Yes! It’s wedding season time. Friends, cousins, far cousins or acquaintances and college and school friends – near, far, wherever you are, I am sure you have at least one wedding card for this weekend or the next. And what better than a sari for such celebrated occasion, don’t you think?

There are more than 80 known ways to drape a saree and the most famous sari draping style with pleats tucked in front and the pallu on one shoulder is known as the nivi style sari.

The origin of the sari goes way back, to the Indus Valley Civilization. And that’s the effect I attempted this wedding season. Trust me, it was amazing!

For this look, I wore a heavenly gorgeous sari from Amrita Thakur from Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop. If sophisticated bling is up your alley, no one does it better than Amrita. This young and talented designer can make a simple-looking outfit perfect for a wedding with her classic cuts, fine embroidery and fun choice of colours.

My obvious choice for jewellery was a brand that is also all about sophisticated bling – Swarovski. Their baubles are so versatile that they go well with any Indian outfit and can light up a regular Western look too. The colour and design make them a great buy even for the wedding season.

The price point is perfect for gifting too. Hence a great way to replace ultra-expensive fine jewellery with pocket-friendly sparkly designs.

As for the hair and makeup, it was time for my staple winged eyes with Bobbi Brown Black Ink Gel Liner and curled-up hair. This was followed by a mix of two of my favourite lip shades: Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Electric Pink and L’Oreal Paris Orange Power, with a nude glass gloss for shine.

Until next time,

Love,

CQ
