Step 2: Stick It

Next, stick the tape across your face. Wrap it around your nostrils and end it just below the ends of either eye brows, so that the tape forms an upwards angle at each eye.

Step 3: Take Another Piece Of Tape

Then, take two more smaller pieces of the tape. Stick the two tapes on each eyelid, so that the end meets the other piece of tape, and make sure it forms a triangular shape between the two tapes.

Step 4: Smudge The Shadow!

Now dip your index finger in black eyeshadow and smudge in between the two sides of tape, filling in the two triangular spaces you have created on either side.

Step 5: Peel It Off

Peel off all the pieces of tape. And voila, you should finish with two perfect wings of black shadow at the corners of each eye. You can correct any excess with a cotton pad if required.

Pro Tips To Nail The Winged Eyeliner Hack

  1. Certain kinds of tapes can be bad for skin in two ways: They contain adhesives that can react to the skin or leave residue behind. Additionally, stretching the skin can also break down the protein that keeps our skin glowy and strong.
  2. If you are giving this hack a try, opt for a micropore tape that tends to leave less residue and has a lower incidence of allergic reactions.
  3. Apply some toner and moisturiser to basically hold the skin in its natural position so that the trauma on it is less aggressive.
  4. Alternatively, you could also try an eyeliner template like this stick-on wing eyeliner to nail that Ariana-esque look.

Moral of the story? Go wing it!
